Each day, over 4,500 people save both time and money by commuting to work through the Bloomfield-based Rideshare Company, which operates the country’s third-largest vanpool network. As traffic congestion and environmental pollution decrease, Rideshare has noticed an increase in traffic -- to the company’s web site! In consideration of their growing clientele, Rideshare worked with Web Solutions to build redesigned web sites for The Rideshare Company and Easy Street, the company’s commuter van service. Both sites were launched in January 2011.

The new sites stand out in sleek blue and green themes, color schemes which highlight Rideshare’s commitment to promoting environmental consciousness. A non-profit started in 1980, Rideshare began with the goals of educating and informing people about their commuting options. The new Rideshare site continues this mission by offering visitors a wealth of information on the financial and environmental benefits to the program, including a calculator to find out how much they can save by commuting.
Likewise, Easy Street site visitors will be able to explore their options with fully-interactive maps and route information that can be sorted by preference, and can sign up instantly via an online contact form. Current commuters can download an array of forms for both passengers and drivers, register for an e-newsletter, and even shop, as Easy Street now offers merchandise such as tote bags and t-shirts.
Nanci Fitzgerald, Vice President of Business Development at Rideshare, noted that one of Rideshare’s primary goals for the site updates was “adding more interactive tools to make the user experience more valuable. This approach supports our overall interactive media strategy to offer our customers more access.”
